I will start by saying I like this dash cam, but it does have some flaws. I bought this camera system to replace another branded aging system. I bought this particular system because it was not only a dash cam, but doubles as a navigation system. It was also advertised as having a parking mode. I have dash cameras with parking mode in all of my cars, and really enjoy that feature. I installed this system on a Susuki V-strom.
The good:
The dash cam portion of this setup is pretty good. The picture is clear, it's not jumpy, and works well day or night.
Playback on the display is straight forward, and the operations like card format and file deletion are easy to figure out
Connection to Android was easy and navigation is just like using it on your phone. It also allows the use of Waze, which I prefer. Phone calls and text are routed through to unit seamlessly. Music controls are also simple.
Installation of the unit was fool proof, it only goes together one way, although the front and rear camera cables were not labeled as front or rear, and if you mix them up, it will cause mirror/flip issues later during setup. All supplied cables were long enough.
The bad:
The installation guide should have included user operations as well. For the first two weeks of ownership I was adjusting brightness manually because I did not see how to turn on the auto-brightness feature. I was not alone, as I found an online review video where the host bashed Innovv for not including the feature at all. Hint: it's a tiny grayed out circle to the right if the brightness slider.
There is no official app for wireless downloads for these cameras. If you need to download a video, Innov wants you to remove the sd card from the camera by removing two microscopic screws, dont lose them, and transfer to a computer. I found a third party app called Viidure that allows wireless video transfer. If you use this app with Android, turn off bluetooth or android auto with keep severing the connection. Also since it is not included in any user manual, the default Innovv password for the camera system is 12345678,
The parking mode. This is my biggest gripe, as the parking mode is almost useless. The camera will start to record when impact/movement is detected. Almost all cameras with parking mode I've ever seen will back up one minute or so when detecting an impact, so that you can see what actually caused the impact.
When an impact is detected, the display illuminates and loads up to the main menu allowing a bad guy access to video playback(to see where you live or where you've been), file deletion(so that he can delete the video of him breaking your bike), card format, file lock/unlock, and complete system reset. Talk about a security flaw, why does the monitor come on at all during a parking mode activation? What good is a security system that allows the bad guy complete access?
The system also does not alert you that the parking protection was activated and a video was recorded while you were absent, you just have to figure it out by reviewing locked videos later, if you do at all.
